Exclusive to Midwinter Yarns!
We are absolutely delighted to have been allowed some more of Katie Green's wonderful British Sheep Breeds fabric for our Ochils Bags.
Due to ongoing travel restrictions, I was not able to travel to France to source the vintage linen fabric normally used for these bags last year. Instead, we turned to Scotland's last linen mill that we were lucky enough to have locally, and they provided us with their beautiful fabrics for the bags.
Sadly, Scottish Linen closed their doors for good in April 2021, and with them, the last of the Scottish linen industry. I was able to secure quite a few bolts of their fabric before they went, and to honour that heritage, we have once again teamed up with Katie and her British Sheep Breed fabric for a few more Ochils Bags.
The outer is still hand dyed by us, and the bag is lined with Katie's linen and cotton blend featuring her adorable sheep illustrations.
The Ochils Bag itself is a roomy and sturdy project bag hand made by us here at Midwinter HQ, and features a triple internal pocket with space for notebooks and a pen. The inside view is shown easily containing 500gr of yarn to give you an idea of capacity.
The bag closes with a roll-down construction, so it can roll down to however small the contents allow and grow along with your project. The metal clasp then forms a handy strap to carry the bag with, or hang off your arm if working on the go.
Height (unrolled): 27cm / 10.5 inches
Width at top: 33 cm / 13 inches
Depth (at base) : 15 cm / 6 inches
This particular bag uses the very last of the beautiful cotton/linen Twill weave for the outer - it is a little softer than some of our other fabrics so won't quite stand up on its own, but is plenty thick and hardwearing to last many projects and journeys.
Hand dyed in navy blue and lined with a natural colour cotton canvas featuring the British Sheep Breed print by Katie Green.
Due to the hand dyed nature of this fabric, some colour variation may occur around the bag
